Lisa W. Timmons serves as an arbitrator and mediator of labor and employment, commercial, general civil, probate, domestic relations, and real estate cases. Timmons also offers pro bono mediation to resolve §1983 cases for the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan, and discovery motions on the general civil and business court dockets in Oakland County Circuit Court.
For over 25 years, Timmons has also served as the Executive Director of the Mediation Tribunal Association (MTA). The MTA is a nonprofit agency that provides court-ordered case evaluation for Wayne County Circuit Court and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, making it the largest provider of court-mandated alternative dispute resolution services in Michigan.
Timmons earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Michigan State University, a Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution from Wayne State University, a Juris Doctor from Detroit Mercy Law, and is a Michigan licensed real estate broker.
Timmons was named an Up-and-Coming Lawyer in 2021 by Michigan Lawyers Weekly and received the ADR Hero Award in 2022 from the ADR Section of the Michigan State Bar. Timmons maintains memberships with the Detroit Bar Association, ArbitralWomen, Black Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, Wolverine Bar, American Bar Association, Wayne County Probate Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) both National and Michigan region, and the Oakland County Bar Association.
Timmons enjoys doing pro bono work teaching essay writing skills to bar applicants, participating in expungement clinics, and contributing her time to activities that promote the diversification of the legal community and voting rights.
